The Amburgy's and Running Hope's Story
Living beside Tony Amburgy these last 29 years of marriage has definitely been a great adventure! A new chapter began with a Show Hope Ministry event in 2006 when we first became aware of the needs of 143,000,000 orphans. This led to Tony, a new marathon runner, beginning a ministry to help raise adoption funds through running events. Our family then went on a mission trip to China with our children, Ryan, Joel and Jenna, ages 18, 16,and 13, and Tony led a new effort to adopt two daughters from China that came home to live with us in 2009! Ginger and Maggie are now 14 years old and have blessed us abundantly with an endless supply of laughter and activity. We are glad Jesus wrecked our empty nest! I am so proud of our "original 3 kids" who embraced their new little sisters in such a loving way it would make any mom proud.
Tony's vision for a running ministry took off as "Running Hope, Inc.", and we reached out at several race events and expos to generate exposure and recruit runners to raise money for the orphan cause. One of our favorite events was the famous Atlanta Peachtree Road Race where we had a whole team of 25 wearing red Running Hope T-Shirts. We are excited about the funds raised and all we learned at this stage of ministry development.
The last 3-5 three years we have not been able to develop Running Hope, as we hit some difficult times in our real estate development business. Now, however, God is leading us through the final steps of our recovery.
Lately, there have been some new Running Hope developments, and I want to tell you about a special upcoming event in our ministry journey.
Country Music Marathon 2013: Tony's TWENTY FIFTH!
Even through the past years of non-activity in the ministry, Tony has never given up running solely for the orphan cause. I am excited and proud as his wife and life partner to announce that this year's Country Music Marathon on April 27, 2013, will be his TWENTY FIFTH marathon since he started running in 2006. As a surprise gift to him, I am working to raise some funds so that we can create "RUNNING HOPE 2013: THE RERUN!" If you have ever been to a marathon, you know first hand the incredible spirit and energy of these runners. We fully believe that if we combine this with the spirit and energy of adoptive families working to bring an orphan home that we will have some incredible results.
Will you be a part of this work?
We so appreciate all of you who are a part of the loving support of our family. We ask you to prayerfully consider making a donation through this website and emailing that will enable Tony's hard work and vision to receive some new life and support for the adoption cause for the re-start-up expenses of this ministry.
Also as a surprise for Tony's 25th marathon, I have worked to apply for Running Hope's non-profit 501c3 status approval. Until that happens, Perimeter Church has graciously agreed to receive any donations given now on our behalf. If for some unforeseen reason our non-profit status is not granted, they will donate these funds to Promise 686, and ministry that has the same passion and vision for adoptive families as we do. Your tax deductible receipt will come from Perimeter Church either way.
Thank you SO MUCH for anything that you are able to give towards this work for His heart for orphans.
In His Love,
