Letters and Lemonade

Jordan Kraft, a 5th grader from Indiana, was not the same after his family adopted Claire, his ten-year-old sister from China. His heart was moved for orphans. So when he heard about the Change for Orphans campaign at the Steven Curtis Chapman concert in Brownsburg, IN, he was so excited about helping orphans who need families.

He wrote letters to his friends and family asking for help and support and, along with his sister, raised $30 dollars by selling lemonade after a Saturday soccer game. In total, Jordan raised over $1,000 dollars for the Change for Orphans campaign!

Petrick testimonies ChangeChange on Campus
After hearing about Show Hope at an SCC concert, Kim Petrick, a student at Houghton College and an RA on her floor, gathered her dorm girls together and raised over $70 in change. “Missions and ministry need to start right here, right now,” said Kim. “I think the ladies would agree that it was worth it, knowing that orphans around the world, as well as waiting families, needed our change more than we did. A dime here and a couple nickels there really do add up. And when they go to Show Hope, instead of being stuck in the couch or under a seat in the car, they become much more useful!”

Grace Stevens Testimony ChangeGrace Gives Back
Grace Stevens is a 5th grade girl, who, like her three other siblings, was adopted from China. After going with their mom to a Steven Curtis Chapman concert, these kids, especially Grace, were excited about helping those children who were left behind. “I think everyone should adopt a child,” wrote Grace in a letter. “Think! It’s a change for you, but a humungous change for the orphan. I have to do a good deed for girl scouts. So I said, ‘I’ll fundraise money for Show Hope…’” She went back to her school, held a fundraiser in her class, and raised $18.45. What an inspiration, and what a difference a heart can make.

Swareck SCC Testimonies Change Fundraiser at Home
We won the “SCC plays your house” contest on K-Love. Attending the SCC concert where over $11,000 was raised for Shaohannah’s Hope gave Tom the idea to do the same thing for the concert at our house. We emailed people ahead of time, but never in my wildest dreams did I think we would collect $809.79—yeah God! It is an awesome story to tell people, and it was a night all in attendance will never forget. -Tom and Dawn Skwarek

Anna Pic Change for Orphans testimoniesAnna Brings Change to her Church
I have always been inspired by adoption, and I decided to ask my pastor about having an adoption Sunday service. He agreed, and during the service we took a collection for Show Hope. I was almost speechless when I found out that our congregation of about 150 people had donated $1,234! Thank you so much for working to bring families together. I hope you will use this money to bring another great kid home! -Anna Beatty

Prater Change for orphans testimoniesFountain for Youth
We adopted from Kazakhstan, and I wanted to do more than just pass the Change for Orphans bucket to my network of friends. I know the man who runs two nearby gyms. People have always thrown coins in the fountains at these gyms, so I asked if they would donate the pond’s proceeds for Show Hope. They happily agreed, and we now have two change-producing ponds of hope. We pray and hope that this helps bring more homeless children to Christian homes, and we are currently looking for more ponds to invade with our mission. -Deeter Prater
