They stepped up to be foster parents because they knew kids in their community needed love, and in recognition of how they have touched the lives of many foster youth, Dennis and Beth Brown were honored as the Foster Parents of the Year for the state of Georgia.
"The Browns didn't decide to become foster parents over night. Their start to becoming foster parents began with a student in Beth's class at Upson-Lee Middle School.
“'This one little girl truly touched my heart,' she said, as she told Dennis she wouldn't cry. 'She would ask why I couldn't be her foster parent. Then Dennis and I talked and wondered why people like us weren't being foster parents... The Lord truly laid this on our hearts and this is what we were supposed to do.'
"'We do it because we simply love kids.' Dennis said, who is an employee with the City of Thomaston. 'We handled it through a lot of prayer and made the best decision.'”
