09.10.06 Picturesque Effort to Bring Hope to Orphans
CBS News
When a child doesn't have a family, who is there to take pictures they can cherish for years? While in college, Ben Schumaker had a brilliant idea to go one step further on the orphan's behalf: give the children not just a picture, but a portrait of themselves!
Through his effort, called the Memory project, Schumaker has helped bless over 4,000 orphans by collecting their pictures and sending them to high school art teachers. Then the students paint portraits of the children, raising awareness for the students while blessing the orphans and give them a new sense of self!
